The heart behind Hule & Co.

Hule’s (Oo-lay) story didn’t begin in comfort. She was a Cocker Spaniel in Mexico who survived a machete attack that left her without her left eye and with every reason to fear the world. And yet somehow, she didn’t. When she was rescued and brought to safety, she carried a softness and a quiet courage that made everyone who met her fall in love. Her rescuers chose to name her Hule, which means "rubber" in Spanish, because she bounced back from her attack so fast. She chose trust when she had every excuse not to, and that choice became the beginning of everything for us.
When Hule made the journey from Mexico to Canada, she didn’t just become our dog — she became the centre of our family. She explored the world like it belonged to her, from forest trails to cozy couches, and she nurtured every animal that joined our home. She was our compass, our comfort, and the matriarch of our little pack. Oliver and Willow adored her. We all did. Loving her felt like being grounded in something pure.
After Hule passed in 2023, the universe sent us another soul from Mexico — Angelita. A tripod with a complicated medical history and a smile that could melt anything, she reminded us that resilience takes many forms. Where Hule was wise and steady, Angelita was sunshine and sweetness. And Oliver, gentle as always, welcomed her just as he had welcomed Hule. Together, they taught us that rescue dogs arrive with pasts, but they fill our lives with so much more than what they’ve overcome.
Hule & Co. was born from the love of this pack — from the courage of a one-eyed survivor, the warmth of a three-legged ray of light, and the loyalty of the dogs who walked beside them. Everything we create is inspired by them: their stories, their strength, their joy, and the way they turned hardship into something beautiful.
Some of our pack now watch over us, but their spirits live in every detail of this little boutique. Through Hule & Co., we honour where they came from, what they survived, and the love they gave so freely. And we hope that every accessory we make helps you celebrate the dog who changed your life, too — whether they rescued you, you rescued them, or (as we learned) it was always both.
